On the product side we see the world of old fixed multiplay packages providers to try to capitalize on their invested in fixed networks. Meanwhile, large-scale IP backbones are build into the new highway which is the backbone for  various new innovative services. The real explosion of applications and speed is still to come.

In many organizations the management of telecommunication was a burden. Is telecoms  a part of purchasing, administration or IT? The integration of fixed and mobile telephony and ICT is the basic need for change. Because of the wide range of products, services and rate plans it is a challenge for most companies to get a clear picture. With new services like mobile internet also the costs are put on the strategic agenda. Although the reductions in the market seem to be accepted by the large suppliers, the telecom market remains in need for innovation by smaller parties.

New products, new networks, new business models and increasingly critical customers, ensure that companies must excel in three strategies: operational excellence, "product leadership" and "customer intimacy". This requires a completely different view of the market and attitude. Strategies, business models, controls, processes, IT and manpower has to be flexible and strong enough to support the realization of these three strategies.
